• Cemetery grounds are open to the public from dawn to dusk seven days a week when the gate is unlocked.
• Cemetery grounds are closed to the public from dusk until dawn seven days a week, whether the gate is unlocked or not.
• All persons are welcome to visit the cemetery grounds while the gates are open; however, all persons entering the cemetery grounds shall respect the Policies and Procedures of the cemetery provided herein. Loud, boisterous and profane language is prohibited. No person will be permitted to disturb the quiet or good order of the grounds or to act in any unseemly, irreverent or boisterous manner. Cemetery Personnel are instructed to see that proper decorum is maintained at all times. Children are not allowed to run at will over the grounds. Cemetery Personnel shall exclude or eject all those who persistently disregard Cemetery Policy.
• Visitors are forbidden to cut, pick or remove flowers or plants without permission, or to break or injure trees or shrubs, or to injure or deface any monument, vault, structure or other cemetery property.
• No persons shall discharge a firearm within or across any part of the grounds of the cemetery, except in the case of a military funeral. For military funerals, only active duty military or American Legion personnel who are participants in the funeral shall be allowed to discharge their firearms.
• Dogs will be allowed on the Cemetery grounds as long as they are well behaved, and under the control of their owner. Excrement must be picked up immediately and disposed of properly. No dog should be allowed to run at large before, during, or immediately after a funeral service. During these times all dogs should remain on a leash and away from the funeral and should not be allowed to bark. Dogs that dig in the ground will be banned from the Cemetery. Any dog owner not adhering to these Policies and Procedures will be asked by Cemetery Personnel to immediately remove the dog from the Cemetery.
• Visitors who are not part of a funeral in process shall not congregate in the area of the grave while a committal service is in progress.
• Soliciting the sale of any commodity, soliciting donations, or distribution of any printed material, other than by Cemetery Personnel, is strictly prohibited.
• Anyone violating this regulation is liable for arrest and prosecution.
• The cemetery Plot or Lot may be defined by a border, if desired, by the Plot or Lot owner.
• The border must stay within the area of the Lot or Plot. Prior to placing a border the cemetery manager will define the limits of the allowed border. The driveways, walkways and other common areas of the cemetery must be kept clear. Encroachment will be mitigated at the direction of the cemetery manager and at the Plot/ Lot owner’s expense.
• If a border is desired, a reinforced concrete border is required. Decorative stone, brick or ceramics may be permanently set in the concrete.
• The border should be a minimum of six (6) inches wide and a maximum of eighteen (18) inches wide.
• The border must be finished and flush with the ground and able to withstand frequent interaction with a lawn mower and line trimmer.
• SRCA and those hired or volunteering to do work for the cemetery shall have no liability for damage to the border in the routine work in the function and maintenance of the cemetery.
• Borders that are deemed dangerous, or unsightly, by the Cemetery Manager and Personnel will be removed, and not replaced, by Cemetery Personnel
• Flowers and arrangements are allowed to adorn the graves. The flowers or arrangements must be placed in the permanent vases that were installed with the grave marker. No plantings of any kind will be permitted on or around graves.
• No flower receptacles may be placed on any Plot unless made of approved material, size and design. GLASS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. The cemetery shall not be liable for floral pieces, baskets or frames in which, or to which, such floral pieces are attached, beyond the acceptance of such floral pieces for funeral services held in the cemetery.
• Artificial flowers do not fit in the general theme of the cemetery where natural plantings are the basis of its park-like effect. Artificial flowers, wreaths, etc., will not be allowed during the period beginning March 1st and ending October 31st of each year, which are the normal period of lawn mowing and maintenance and the normal growing season of the year. All such artificial floral arrangements present during these months will automatically be removed. During the remainder of the year, artificial arrangements will be allowed so long as they do not become unsightly and are placed in approved receptacles. At no time will the cemetery assume any responsibility for the care, preservation or safekeeping of natural or artificial floral arrangements.
• Flower vases that protrude above the level of the ground will not be permitted. The Cemetery will not be responsible for vases that are damaged or stolen from graves or Plots.
• Cemetery Personnel will have charge of planting of trees and shrubs in accordance with the general plan for the landscaping of the grounds. Additional planting of shrubs, flowers and trees may be allowed within certain areas of the Cemetery with the proper approval by the Cemetery Manager. SRCA assumes no responsibility for the care and maintenance of cemetery plantings. Dead or unsightly plantings will be removed and not replaced.
• If any tree, shrub, vine or plant shall, by means of its roots, branches, or otherwise, become detrimental to Plots or avenues, or are dangerous or inconvenient to walks or roadways, or interfere with the general safety and design of the Cemetery, Cemetery Personnel shall have the right to remove the same, when in their judgment it seems best. The determination of when a tree, shrub, vine or plant becomes detrimental is subject to the sole discretion of Cemetery Personnel.
• The cemetery management prohibits adornments of any kind including ornaments, frames, fences, chairs, benches, vases, glass cases, toys, rocks or any other articles on cemetery grounds. Cemetery management reserves the right to remove and dispose of such items without notice to the Plot holder.
• Seasonal decorations, excluding benches, vases, glass items or toys, will be allowed beginning three days prior to the following holidays recognized by the Sand Ridge Cemetery Association which includes Memorial Day, Independence Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. Seasonal decorations must be removed within 7 days after the holiday or the property will be deemed abandoned property and removed by Cemetery Personnel.
• No signs indicating that a Plot is “for sale”, nor signs, cards or advertisements of any kind will be permitted.
• Funeral floral arrangements and floral pieces will be removed from graves when they become wilted or unsightly. Persons desiring to retain any funeral arrangements or floral pieces must remove the same within forty-eight hours after interment.
• Any damage caused by use of glues, tapes, or other products to affix or secure items to markers, and the processes, chemicals or tools employed to remove those products is not the responsibility of Sand Ridge Cemetery.
• Unless otherwise covered in these Policies and Procedures, decorations affixed and/or secured to grave markers, or those encroaching onto another person’s property, including, but not limited to, flowers, cards, pictures, stuffed animals, etc., will be removed by cemetery personnel without notice. If the damage caused by the use of glues, tapes or other products to affix or secure items to a monument or marker, is excessive and needs repair, the cemetery reserves the right to seek reimbursement of those costs of repair from the party that caused such damage.
